The horrifying Planned Parenthood scandal regarding the possible sale of aborted baby parts continues with the release last week of another deeply disturbing video from the Center for Medical Progress. It is, undoubtedly, distressing to learn about such an abhorrent affront to human life and human dignity as the killing of a baby, who survived an abortion, for the purpose of collecting tissue. Yet this is what this video allegedly shows, and it cannot be ignored.
The not totally surprising yet still saddening reality is that more people are not clamoring for a thorough investigation of the atrocities that this series of videos reportedly show. Instead there have been restraining orders taken out against the Center for Medical Progress, and some people seem to have great dismay over how these videos were obtained and the fact that they’re edited– as if this is more egregious than what the films show. Thankfully, some states have launched investigations into Planned Parenthood. This past Saturday, thousands of people gathered outside Planned Parenthood facilities across the USA to protest abortion and federal funding of Planned Parenthood.
Allegations of actions as serious, unethical, and possibly illegal as are purported in these videos demand an investigation and should have everyone, pro-life and pro-choice, in an uproar. Where is our common sense and common human decency? Let us be reasonable and stand up, in our own various ways, in defense of the most vulnerable among us.
