Anheuser-Busch has lost $5 billion since recruiting a transgender activist for an ad campaign, according to Fox News. The recent partnership between Dylan Mulvaney and the beer brand Bud Light, which is owned by Anheuser-Busch, has garnered national attention. Mulvaney is a transgender influencer who has partnered with several American companies for advertising campaigns. The backlash has been from conservatives who believe that Bud Light has become “woke” and lost sight of its target audience.
Anheuser-Busch has committed a social crime in the eyes of many conservatives. By choosing to support a transgender influencer, the company has willingly supported the harmful leftist ideology that gender is not determined by biology. In the eyes of many Americans, the transgender issue is far from settled.
An article published by the Pew Research Center on America’s complex views of transgender issues states that “The public is divided over the extent to which our society has accepted people who are transgender: 38% say society has gone too far in accepting them, while a roughly equal share 36% say society hasn’t gone far enough.” In other words, the public is very divided on the issue of how transgender individuals should be treated in society. Considering this data, it is not surprising that there has been so much backlash from the American people against Anheuser-Busch. If 38% of the American people believe that society has gone too far in accepting transgenders, there should be no surprise that the company received such harsh backlash.
The unexpected turn for a company like Anheuser-Busch shows just how democratic Americans remain. The voice of the people still triumphs. So often the media portrays an America that is increasingly progressive. This is not the case with the transgender issue. Many Americans do not support the cause and will have no part in supporting companies that actively try to support harmful ideologies.
The transgender issue has also been largely supported by federal agencies on the left. For example, the Biden-Harris White House website has an entire page devoted to the recent work that they have been doing to support transgender citizens. From enforcing federal protections for transgender persons to mandating non-binary classification, the administration has made a clear effort to do everything in its power to stand on the side of the transgender population.
Just because a state, government, or federal agency supports a notion does not mean that the issues will reflect the will of the people. The transgender issue is clearly included within this classification. Governing figures, especially those within a democracy, can easily forget that they represent the will of the people. In this instance, the Biden-Harris administration is supporting laws and policies that are not supported by the public at large. The drastic measures that have been taken against Anheuser-Busch are reflective of the voice of the common people. The voice of the common people remains the most important policy of America.
