Welcome to Jersey Shore, would you like to talk about chastity?
While this was not exactly the script, it seemed as though I was saying something very similar to this this past week when I participated in a beach outreach trip with the Generation Life missionaries. Every year, a group of missionaries called Generation Life goes down to the Jersey shore to speak with young people about chastity, love, and sex, and share with them the beauty of this message in its entirety.
As a pro-life Christian, I acknowledge that God’s plan for sex is within a married relationship. Within this structure, broken hearts, sexually-transmitted diseases, and unintended pregnancies are avoided altogether, and you are made more free to love genuinely. It was amazing to me how many young people had never even thought of the option of chastity and were so flattered by finding out that they “were worth waiting for.” After having done this outreach trip, I commend the Generation Life missionaries for their service in abstinence education and recognize that sharing this message is vital in order to promote a culture that truly recognizes the beauty of all human life.
