After the passage of pro-life state legislation and the increasing measures taken by the Trump administration to protect preborn life, liberal women celebrities have openly and proudly boasted their abortions. This describes the moral corruption of Hollywood, which has influence in nearly every form of entertainment all around the world, from music to film, sports, news, media, etc. Nevertheless, there are many celebrities who besides sharing their talents with the world, also boldly speak out against the culture of death, which wanted them victims. The Italian opera/pop singer Andrea Bocelli is just one example.

In a video released in 2010, Bocelli revealed the incredible story of his mother choosing life. He explained that when his mother was pregnant with him, she was hospitalized after having an attack of appendicitis. After the treatments were over, the doctors told the mother that her unborn child had surely developed a serious defect. As Bocelli mentions in the video, the doctors then suggested that the best choice the mother could make was to abort the child, since “the baby would be born with some disability.” One wonders why the very people whose sole purpose is to protect life, would encourage the killing of life at its most fragile stage. This demonstrates that the medical community, since more than half a century ago, has chosen money, ideology, and profit over care for their most vulnerable patients.

As revealed in a 2018 interview, Edi Alighieri, Bocelli’s mother, turned against the insistence and pressure of the physicians and gave the gift of life to her child. This selfless and courageous decision has allowed for beautiful music to be created, and for millions of lives to be changed and inspired by this one person.

In 1958, Andrea Bocelli was born partially blind in Lajatico, Italy. After a soccer accident when he was twelve, Bocelli completely lost his vision. Despite his disability, Andrea Bocelli has risen to become one of the world’s most famous classical and pop singers. Since the start of his career in 1982, Bocelli has recorded more than 30 albums, selling over 90 million records worldwide. His talent has inspired numerous musicians and singers. More importantly, Bocelli’s witness to life is a true example for others. In a 2011 interview with the Italian newspaper The Telegraph, Bocelli stated that his views on abortion and life are deeply grounded in his Catholic faith, and thus he strives to be “an example and act as a role model.”

Andrea Bocelli’s story reveals that every person has a hidden potential, no matter what their situation is, which can impact the world. Abortion absolutely destroys the possibility of every child, made in the image of God, to affect other lives. Furthermore, Bocelli’s life story destroys the eugenic ideology of the pro-abortion lobby, which pushes for the killing of babies with disabilities. What would our world be without an Andrea Bocelli or the many lives who have survived abortion? What potential have we lost in the name of convenience, and a so-called woman’s right?
