Dan Cathy

Dan Cathy, the president of Chick-fil-A, has come out and made a very definitive statement in regards to his support for:

“the family — the biblical definition of the family unit”

As a “family-owned business, a family-led business,” Chick-fil-A is committed to “‘glorify God and be a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and have a positive influence on all that come in contact with Chick-fil-A.'”  Known in the past for its strict Christian-based business practice of shutting down on Sundays, Chick-fil-A could be categorized as the bread and butter of the South.  Just as Southern values include Southern Hospitality, so too, does it seem that Southern values start at the dinner table.  As is stated, the purpose of Chick-fil-A isad maiorem Dei gloriam–towards the greater glory of God–not towards maximizing profit.  With this in mind, Cathy’s statement about his Biblical basis for the family is not out of line with his business model, and should not be scoffed at.  If gay rights activists are angered by such a statement, they should just find a new place to get their chicken.

It is thus that Mike Huckabee has created a nation-wide event on August 1st to honor Chick-fil-A for audaciously standing up for what is right, despite the insults and loss of business profit from angry gay rights radicals.  On Wednesday, August 1st, hundreds of thousands of people will turn out to their local Chick-fil-As to honor this brave man who stands to lose the business of many because he stands up for what is right.  Let us, as the next generation, stand with Dan Cathy for the truth by giving him our business on this day and in the future.
