Either Emily’s List is unaware that Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms or its political integrity standards have reached a new low. Their new negative political ad against Senator Pat Toomey’s reelection (R-PA) attempts to tug on the heartstrings of PA voters by telling the sympathetic story of a breast cancer survivor.
The actress in the commercial warns Pennsylvania voters not to vote for Senator Pat Toomey because of his vote to defund Planned Parenthood. The most deceptive part of the ad, (at 0.14) actually shows a woman getting a mammogram, insinuating that Planned Parenthood has the capability of providing mammograms. The goal of the commercial is to persuade PA voters to believe that if Planned Parenthood were to be defunded in Pennsylvania, women would be unable to receive breast cancer health care. The fact is that Planned Parenthood never has and never will provide mammogram screenings in Pennsylvania or any state in the United States.
This is not the first time that Planned Parenthood has capitalized on the assumption that they provide mammograms. The CEO Cecile Richards herself casually perpetuated this lie on CNN News.
Pennsylvania voters deserve better than being guilted into voting for or against a candidate based of off false information. Pennsylvania voters deserve better than Planned Parenthood and their political allies lies.
