Headlines can be sobering. They can point out the dark realities of the world. Thankfully, they are not the whole story. Beautiful events happen everyday that manifest the goodness found in humanity. These events are absolutely worth celebrating and sharing.

Recently a woman posted a Youtube video of her 14-week-old unborn baby clapping his or her hands in her womb while she sang “If You’re Happy And You Know It Clap Your Hands.”

It turns out they saw the baby clap his or her hands and then the mother proceeded to sing. “The experience is one I’ll never forget. The baby clapped three times, then the doctor rewound and scrubbed it while we sang. No mystery. It was amazing.”

Those few short seconds are so powerful. The power lies in how they illuminate the beauty and wonder of life. A baby not even born yet is already communicating. Watch it and try not to be amazed.

Another story that points to beauty of life is that of Christopher Duffley, a boy born blind, autistic, and with cocaine in his system. He was also born with the gift of perfect pitch. Adopted by his uncle and aunt who felt that by taking him in they were doing God’s will.

“Steve and I both felt that by inviting Christopher into our family, we were also obeying the voice of God. In the bible it says, “Whoever welcomes one such child for my sake welcomes me”…We also felt that we were modeling to our children what our faith professes, the gospel of life.”

Their act of love has allowed a boy to share his musical gift with others. While many see those with disabilities as lesser and as a result marginalize them, Christopher reminds us of the falsity of such views. His gift has touched so many hearts. Uploaded to Youtube back in 2011, there is a video of him singing “Open the Eyes of My Heart” which has since welcomed over 8 million views. He is truly an inspiration. He is a reminder that each life is priceless.
