No More Abortions for IrelandSarah Kepins | August 11, 2016
A new ruling in Ireland has just declared that an unborn child has constitutional rights to life. This means that abortions are no longer allowed and that every baby has the right to be born. Mr. Justice Richard Humphreys, a high court judge, said the following about abortion: an unborn child, including the unborn child of a parent facing deportation, enjoys “significant” rights and legal position at common law, by statute, and under the Constitution, “going well beyond the right to life alone”. He also said that these rights are “actually effective” meaning from the moment of conception the child has rights, instead of merely prospective, meaning the child has rights after birth. This is great news because it shows that not only does Humphreys believe in the right to life but he also knows that every unborn child is a child. A Life Institute spokeswoman said, “This ruling reminds us that we are a human being from conception and that our human rights must be protected and upheld from that point.” As an American, this ruling gives me hope. If Ireland can declare abortion unconstitutional and illegal so can The United Sates. We need to continue to pray for the end of abortion and for the life of every unborn child.
