While the official Republican National Committee Platform has not yet been released, the recent committee meeting held in Cleveland, Ohio is a promising sign for pro-life advocates. Even though many feared the potential for the pro-life GOP platform to be weakened this election cycle, the current draft is actually more pro-life than the previous one. The politico report states that the platform may include the  defunding of Planned Parenthood in the next budget, adding a human life amendment to the constitution, and revisiting the Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt case.

While the exact motives for the new adoptions are not known definitely, it is presumable to speculate that they are in response to several factors, including the radical anti-life platform of the Democratic party, the videos released by the Center for Medical Progress last summer, the strong pro-life movement among young people, or a combination of many other factors. Regardless of the motives, as pro-lifers, we must respond actively to the pro-life platform of the RNC by continuing to make a positive case for the value of all human life.
