Recently, a well-known ultra-feminist, Sara Fernanda, of Brazil, known as Sara Winter, publicly announced her denouncement of feminism and conversion to the pro-life movement. As the leader of the Femm Brazil movement, she apologizes for her actions in her video blog and asks for forgiveness from Christians for the offensive, sacrilegious pictures she took in front of a church in Brazil, among other things.
The incredible conversion story is truly encouraging for pro-life advocates. As a diverse group of people, pro-lifers understand that everyone comes to understand the truth about life on different terms. Oftentimes, conversions are accompanied with baggage from years of believing false rhetoric, like the kind that Sara Fernanda writes about in her new book. Sara had been betrayed by the feminist movement for years, including being molested, pushed to do drugs, forced to have sex with strangers, and not given help when she was trapped in prostitution as a minor.
I encourage the pro-life community to welcome Sara Fernanda, and gladly accept her apology. We learn from her conversion story that no one is too radical or far-gone to come to realize the value of human life, and it is never too late to join the movement that believes that everyone deserves a birthday.
