I have always loved art. I love how striking architecture stops me in
my tracks as I’m walking the streets of downtown Chicago where
I live. I find it remarkable, yet amusing, how paintings at the Art Institute
of Chicago will pull me toward them and cause me to enter into a trance,
dumbfounded at the aesthetically pleasing sight before me. But, what I
love about art more than anything is the power it has. It never ceases to
amaze me what people can create and the messages they can convey through their
art. I have seen some powerful Pro-Life films the past few years,
but I would like to draw attention to two of them. These films are both
available on YouTube, and they are free to watch.
The first film is Cresendo. I don’t want to give too much information
away, so I will share this quote from the Movie to Movement website. Movie to Movement is
an organization that produces and shares films which are Pro-Life. ” This powerful historical
short film tells the story of one of the most important unplanned pregnancies in history- and
with searing honestly depicts the struggle of the mother in the face of domestic violence and
existential despair. It shows that hope can grow in the most unexpected of places and that any
child can grow up to accomplish something unforgettable.” If you have not seen this
wonderful film, I strongly encourage you to! I saw it for the first time a few years
ago at a Pro-Life conference and fell in love with it. I won’t say who it is about, but
the film is about one of my favorite people who has ever lived.
The second film is called Sing a Little Louder. It is about a young boy
living in war torn Europe during the Holocaust. Every Sunday, during a Church service
he attends, a train comes by with Jews heading for Concentration Camps. I took away the
message that genocide is happening today in other forms (ie abortion), and that there is
more that America’s Churches can do to stop them. Again, as I previously mentioned,
both films are free to watch on YouTube! They are lovely Pro-Life films which will
hopefully inspire you to make a difference.
